Xiaomi has just introduced the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S. It is the new top of the range of the company that will be released on May 17, 2018, and it seems that it is causing a lot of sensation among the community. Those of Xiaomi have taken the opportunity to improve a couple of aspects of the Mi Mix 2, polishing rough edges and achieving a result at the height of the most demanding.
In today's review we analyze the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, the optimized version of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 equipped with a Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, 256GB of storage and a 12MP + 12MP dual rear camera.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S in review, a Mi Mix 2 with a better camera and a more powerful processor, is there a deal?
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S is not cut in any way. It borrows the best components available to deliver a smartphone that can handle anything thrown at it. The wet dream of lovers of raw power.
Design and display
At the design level, the Mi Mix 2S is identical to Xiaomi's previous Mi Mix 2. Wear a ceramic body which gives an impressive premium feel. It is not metal, but it is not glass either. A material that provides a remarkable visual appeal with some subtle gold lines on the edges. An elegant phone to say the least.
With regard to the screen, Xiaomi has chosen to repeat with a 5.99-inch panel with a Full HD + resolution 2160 × 1080 pixels. A screen with a pixel density of 403 dpi, a brightness of 585 nits and NTSC of 95%.
It is available in black and white, has dimensions of 150.9 x 74.9 x 8.1 mm and a weight of 191 grams.
Power and performance
The quality of the hardware is simply devastating. On the one hand, we have Qualcomm's most powerful processor, the Snapdragon 845 Octa Core at 2.8GHz with GPU Adreno 630, 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage space. All controlled by Android 8.0 Oreo with MIUI 9.5 customization layer.
With these features we can only hope for the best possible performance. We are facing a terminal that can multitask thanks to those 8GB of RAM, capable of running any app no matter how heavy it may be and running the most demanding games with hardly any mess. To give us an idea of its performance, we are talking about a mobile with a score in Antutu of 256,860 points.
Camera and battery
For the photographic aspect, Xiaomi has chosen to improve the previous rear lens of the Mi Mix 2. The new Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S goes to the double camera. A camera equipped with a 12MP Sony IMX363 lens with f / 1.8 aperture, wide angle lens, Dual Pixel AF and 1 µm pixel size. The second rear lens is a 12MP Samsung S5K3M3 with f / 2.4 aperture, telephoto lens and a pixel size of 1 µm.
A rear camera with 2x optical zoom function, 4-axis optical stabilizer, smart scene selector and portrait mode, among other features.
In the selfie camera, we find a single 5MP lens with f / 2.0 aperture and a pixel size of 1.12 µm.
Finally, and in regards to the battery, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S maintains the same battery of 3400mAh, also with quick charge 3.0 via USB type C, but this time the novelty of the famous Qi wireless charging.
As for the rest of the features, it offers NFC connectivity, WiFi 4 × 4 MIMO and Bluetooth 5.0.
Price and availability
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S has several versions. In addition to the aforementioned, other models with 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of internal storage space will also be launched.

Is the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S worth buying? Well, what do you want me to tell you, if you are regular high-end users or highly demanding users, here you have a real “cucumber” to reach for a much more moderate price than what we can find in other top of the range such as the Huawei P20 Pro, the Galaxy S9 or the iPhone X. Good performance and a design that personally seems to me to be authentic cinnamon sticks. Without a doubt, a step in the right direction for Xiaomi.
