ALLDOCUBE M5 in review, 2.5K tablet with Android 8.0 and Dual SIM

Last month we already had the ALLDOCUBE KNote, a tablet with Windows 10, which we could classify as Microsoft's "little sister of the Surface Pro". But CUBE does not stop there, and recently it has just launched another new tablet, the ALLDOCUBE M5: this time with Android 8.0, a 2.5K screen much higher than the KNote and a much cheaper price.

In today's review, we take a look at the ALLDOCUBE M5, a 10-inch tablet with a 10-core processor, 4GB of RAM and dual SIM to connect to the Internet without depending on any WiFi network.

ALLDOCUBE M5 in review, an affordable tablet with Android Oreo, Helio X20, 4G connectivity and a large screen

This CUBE M5 is in that range of the mid-range with a sweet tooth, with features that are not as common as it might seem in the middle of 2018. We had a pretty sad season in terms of news in the world of Android tablets, so I'm happy know that "the machinery" is still running.

Design and display

The ALLDOCUBE M5 features a fabulous 10.1 inch capacitive IPS screen with 2.5K resolution (2560x1600p) and 10 touch points. The front frame is white, with a platinum-colored metal casing, dual speaker (one on each side), and 2 cameras, one on the back and one for selfies.

As far as ports are concerned, it has a slot for dual SIM, another for a micro SD card, a micro USB port and a 3.5mm minijack for headphones.

It has dimensions of 24.10 x 17.10 x 0.87 cm and a weight of 510 gr.

Power and performance

Entering the guts of the new CUBE tablet we discover a Helio X20 Deca Core 64-bit 2.3GHz CPU (2 cores A72 + 8 cores A53). Accompanying the processor, a Mali-T880 GPU, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal space expandable via SD. The operating system, as we mentioned at the beginning, is Android 8.0Airing.

The processor seems to be designed for good performance, and while we don't have an Intel chip to do all the dirty work, it's more than enough to pull the bandwagon from an Android 8.0 device and deliver a satisfying user experience.

Normally this type of Android tablets usually wear a Mediatek processor with considerably less processing power, so we can see this Helio X20 as a step forward, within the more flexible mid-range.

Camera and battery

Cameras on tablets have never received much attention from manufacturers. In this case, although they are merely face-to-face lenses, we find them both on the front and on the back. For the front, a 2MP camera, and a 5MP camera for the rear. Don't expect much from them: functional and little else.

The battery for its part is seen with better eyes: a 6600mAh battery with micro USB charging to offer autonomy within expectations: neither too short nor too long. Let's keep in mind that we are talking about a device that weighs 500 grams, and an increase in the battery would certainly have skyrocketed its weight.

Connectivity

The ALLDOCUBE M5 offers 2.4GHz / 5.0GHz Dual WiFi connectivity, AC WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, being able to connect to the Internet also via 4G using a SIM. The SIM, for its part, supports the following networks:

  • GSM: 850/900/1800 / 1900MHZ (B5 / B8 / B3 / B2)
  • WCDMA: B1 / 2/5/8
  • LTE: B1 / 2/3/5/7/8/20

Price and availability

The ALLDOCUBE M5 has just been presented in society, and is now available to a price of $ 189.99, about € 166.44 to change, on GearBest. It is also available in AliExpress Spain for a price that varies between € 166.75 and € 197.15.

In short, a tablet with an excellent value for money, a good screen, an interesting processor and with the advantage of being able to insert a SIM card to surf the Internet or make phone calls. A bet to take into account within the best mid-range of Android tablets in 2018.
