We have never done any review of the mobiles of BQ, and it is time for that to change. After visiting the BQ website for the first time –welcome to the real world, android! - a Spanish mobile manufacturer with a more than interesting history behind it, I have turned my attention to the mobiles they now give the most importance to. same (they are in the first line on the web): the BQ Aquaris V Plus and the BQ Aquaris VS Plus.
In today's review we talk about the BQ Aquaris V Plus / VS Plus, a pair of base-range mobiles with a Spanish stamp that are well worth a closer look. Will they live up to our expectations?
BQ Aquaris V Plus / VS Plus in analysis, a mobile with 4GB of RAM and Snapdragon 435 to compete in a super-aggressive market
The BQ Aquaris V Plus, and its lighter version, the VS Plus, were presented at the end of 2017. Leaving aside the surrounding issues, and focusing solely on the design and characteristics of this BQ Aquaris V Plus, we find the following highlights.
Design and display
The terminal has a display of 5.5 inches with Full HD resolution and a pixel density of 423ppi. It maintains the classic 16: 9 aspect ratio and its screen has a maximum brightness of 525 nits. A 2.5D arched LCD screen, 85% NTSC and overall pretty noticeable quality for an input landline phone.
We are used to seeing mobiles with lower quality screens in this type of proposal, which is appreciated in the case of this Aquaris V Plus. Otherwise, it has dimensions of 152.3 X 76.7 X 8.4 mm, metalized aluminum casing and a weight of 183 grams. Available in white gold and black colors.
Power and performance
At the hardware level, we are faced with 2 very similar smartphones, except for the processor. The V Plus equips a Snapdragon 435 Octa Core at 1.4GHz, while the VS Plus does the same with a Snapdragon 430 Octa Core at 1.4GHz. Both models incorporate 4GB RAM, Adreno 505 GPU and 64GB of internal storage expandable up to 256GB via SD together with Android 7.1 (Although the V Plus also offers a variant with 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM). It also has NFC technology to make payments with your mobile.
The chip that it mounts is the lowest range of Qualcomm processors, but at least it makes up for it with good RAM and a good amount of storage space. This at the performance level means that we will not have any problem chatting, browsing and the like, but in no case will we be able to do anything “crazy” with it. Nor is it a mobile whose target is hardcore gamers, but it is important to emphasize it. It is not a Mediatek CPU, but it belongs to the cheaper Snapdragon line.
Camera and battery
In the photographic section we find a camera 12MP Big Pixel Sony IMX386 on the rear, with flash and PDAF, aperture f / 2.0 and a pixel size of 1.25 µm. For the front, a correct 8 MP Samsung S5K4H8 with aperture of ƒ / 2.0 and 1.12 µm / pixel has been chosen. No wonder, but at least it seems that they perform quite well and provide a certain quality.
For the battery, BQ has provided a unit with a capacity of 3400mAh and fast charging Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 by micro USB. A battery that offers a duration of 32 hours according to the manufacturer, and that provides some peace of mind in terms of consumption.

Opinion and final assessment of the BQ Aquaris V Plus / VS Plus

Is it worth buying a V Plus or a VS Plus? The truth is that it is a perfect entry-level mobile if all we want is a phone with an elegant appearance with which to browse, chat and take a couple of photos.
The big problem is that for the same price we can buy much more powerful mobiles from other brands, at least at the processor or battery level. In its favor it has, of course, that the moment we have a problem we will not have many complications to pull the guarantee and the technical service of BQ. Especially if we live in Spain.
