Oukitel K8 in review, 6 ”mobile with a 5,000mAh super battery

It has been a long time since we brought any Oukitel mobile to the blog, and the truth is that it is time for that to change. A couple of days ago we saw that the company's new mid-range, the Oukitel K8, has already entered the pre-sale phase. So what better time than now to take a look at the latest from the well-known Asian manufacturer.

In today's review we talk about the Oukitel K8, a mid-range terminal with a large screen per flag and a battery in the line of previous Ouki models, 5000mAh. There is nothing.

Oukitel K8 in review, an affordable mid-range with 4GB RAM, 18: 9 screen and a powerful 5000mAh battery

Oukitel has never stood out for being an innovative brand. Its point is to offer terminals with current features at an affordable price for most mortals. In this sense, the Oukitel K8 is very similar to the Oukitel Mix 2, but with lighter specifications and a little more autonomy.

Design and display

The Oukitel K8 rides a 6-inch screen with Full HD + resolution (2160x1080p), an aspect ratio of 18: 9 and a pixel density of 402ppi. A 2.5D arched panel that is protected by a Japanese Asahi Glass, the screen being of the AUO LCD type.

It has a body with rounded edges with a metallic casing, and a double camera in a vertical arrangement for the rear, located just above the fingerprint detector. At the design level, we are faced with a large and elegant terminal, but of notable tonnage.

The K8 has dimensions of 17.66 x 8.53 x 1.65 cm, a weight of 233 grams and is available in dark gray (Dark Slate Gray).

Power and performance

At the hardware level we find the typical basic mid-range of 2018. Some components that provide effectiveness within what is acceptable for a mobile of just over 100 euros. On the one hand, we have an SoC MTK6750T Octa Core 1.5GHz, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage expandable up to 256GB. All this with Android 8.1 as OS.

We have already commented on it other times, this Mediatek chip, although it does not offer amazing wonders at the performance level, it is the best that we can find in this type of mid-range smartphones. Efficient when running apps and day-to-day tasks. This translates into a score in Antutu of 45,654 points.

For the rest, plenty of space to store photos and videos, and an operating system that allows us to use the new functions of Android Oreo, such as facial recognition, among others.

Camera and battery

The Oukitel K8 features a dual rear camera manufactured by Sony (IMX135) from 13MP + 2MP with f / 2.0 aperture and 1080p video recording. The front lens stays at a mere 5MP of definition. This means that if we want to take photos we will have to pull the rear camera if we want to obtain the best results.

As for the battery, the great strength of this terminal, we discovered a powerful 5000mAh battery with micro USB charging.

Connectivity

The K8 has a Bluetooth 4.0 connection, dual SIM (nano + nano), dual WiFi (2.4G / 5G), GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS and a 3.5mm headphone slot.

Price and availability

The Oukitel K8 is now available in pre-sale and we can get it for $ 169.99, about 149 euros to change, on GearBest. It is also available on other sites such as Amazon, at an approximate price of € 169.99, at the time of this writing. When the pre-sale phase ends, on September 5, its price will most likely increase slightly.

In short, we find an affordable mid-range terminal, with a good value for money, whose strengths are undoubtedly the large screen that it equips and a bomb-proof battery. On the negative side, a device that stands out in the pocket and a front camera that is little more than functional.
