UMIDIGI Z2 Pro in review, premium mid-range with Helio P60 and 6GB RAM

UMIDIGI has just launched its new flagship smartphone for the premium mid-range. Is about the Pro version of the recent UMIDIGI Z2, with a better processor and more storage space.

At the design level, in the UMIDIGI Z2 Pro we still have the same cheeky clone of the Huawei P20 Pro we saw in the original Z2, but being this such a beautiful phone, it is almost appreciated that these types of terminals are presented a little more affordable. Not everyone can leave 800 euros on a mobile, just like that.

UMIDIGI Z2 Pro in review: more processor, more storage space, AI in the camera and 15W wireless charging

The truth is that, for practical purposes, apart from a better processor and more storage space, we are not going to see much more news regarding the UMIDIGI Z2: NFC connectivity and the use of AI in the camera are also incorporated, but little else . You know what they say: If something works, don't change it.

Design and display

The UMIDIGI Z2 Pro mounts a 6.2-inch screen with Full HD + resolution (2246x1080p) with an aspect ratio of 19: 9 and a pixel density of 402 ppi. Of course, the design reminds us of the prodigal son of Huawei, with that characteristic notch and that green color case degraded to purple, with curved glass on all 4 sides of the device.

The Z2 Pro has dimensions of 15.34 x 7.44 x 0.83 cm and a weight of 165 grams. It is available in colors "Carbon Fiber Black", the famous "Twilight”And another version in black with a ceramic finish.

Power and performance

In the guts of this Z2 Pro we find a more than interesting reinforcement of the previous original Z2 model. The CPU is replaced by Mediatek's best SoC for the mid-range, the Helio P60 Octa Core running at 2.0GHz. Accompanying the processor we have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal space expandable up to 256GB via SD. All with Android 8.1 as captain at the helm.

Without a doubt, we are facing a set of specifications that we should not underestimate. As much as Mediatek is, this terminal is capable of giving a good review of terminals with Snapdragon as recognized as the Xiaomi Mi A1, obtaining a performance in Antutu of 130,000 points. Which we rarely see in Chinese terminals of this type.

Therefore, we have a smartphone with a medium-high power, capable of carrying out heavy tasks and moving games at a very high level, with enough disk space to store hundreds of photos and multimedia content.

Camera and battery

Regarding the camera of the UMIDIGI Z2 Pro, we find a double lens both in the rear and in the selfie area. More specifically, for the rear UMI has opted for a 16MP + 8MP double with aperture f / 1.7 and a pixel size of 1.12μ manufactured by Samsung. The same set that we will find in the front camera.

As a novelty, indicate that the camera incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) software, which will help us when taking better photos.

Finally, we talk about autonomy. In this case, the manufacturer has chosen to release some weight, slightly reducing the capacity of the battery, up to 3550mAh. On the positive side, in addition to having fast charging via USB Type-C, the 15W wireless charging.

As for the rest of the features, it has Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, Face ID unlocking, Dual 4G VoLTE and a dual SIM slot (nano + nano).

The Z2 Pro "Ceramic Edition" package also includes a wireless charger and mobile phone case.

Price and availability

The UMIDIGI Z2 Pro has just entered the pre-sale phase and is now available at a reduced price of $ 299.99, about 261 euros to change, on GearBest. This price will be available between August 13 and 19. As of that date, its official price will be $ 349.99 (about 308 euros more or less).

In short, we are facing a clone of the Huawei P20 Pro that is much more than image and facade, with a good value for money and specifications at the height of what is expected of a good premium mid-range.
