UMIDIGI Z2 in analysis, a clone of the Huawei P20 Pro with 6GB RAM

We are tired of seeing clones of the Samsung Galaxy or Xiaomi phones. Here UMIDIGi has thrown down the middle street, and instead of copying the usual ones, it has decided to be inspired by another of the greats, Huawei. The UMIDIGI Z2 It is a clear "tribute" to the Asian giant's P20 Pro, keeping the 6GB of RAM, the notch and the 4 cameras of the latter.

In today's review we take a look at the UMIDIGI Z2, a very sweet terminal for those looking for power in a sophisticated phone within the premium mid-range that comes from China.

UMIDIGI Z2 in analysis: an all light screen, with notch and 6GB RAM

Leaving aside that we are facing a full-fledged clone of the Huawei P20 Pro with some slight variations in the design -such as the location of the rear camera-, the truth is that the UMIDIGI Z2 is a consistent phone by itself. . Let's look at its specifications in a little more detail.

Design and display

The UMIDIGI Z2 has a 6.2-inch Full HD + (2246x1080p) display that covers practically the entire front. Leaving that yes, the already mythical notch or “notch”Top of the iPhone X uncovered. Curious, right? Huawei copies Apple, and UMIDIGI copies Huawei. The circle is closing, friends.

The screen has a pixel density of 407 ppi, which assures us as a whole a really remarkable image quality. The terminal has dimensions of 15.34 x 7.44 x 0.83 cm and a weight of only 165 grams. A very positive fact to take into account, since normally with this type of clones, the weight tends to be much higher than the original. Which is not the case with this Z2.

Another detail that could not be missing is the Twilight color finish of the P20 Pro with curved glass on the back. It is also available in Black and Twilight Black (a gradient from purple to black).

Power and performance

Inside the UMIDIGI Z2 we find weight hardware. On the one hand, we have one of the best Mediatek processors, the Helio P23 Octa Core running at 2.0GHz, Accompanied by a muscular 6GB RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. All with the most recent version of Android 8.1 Oreo.

For performance purposes, this translates into a competent device, with which we will be able to run practically any app that Android makes available to us, games, navigation, etc. Unless we are about hardcore gamers we will not notice too much difference with a terminal with greater baggage.

Although that is a difference that is evident, just by taking a look at their benchmarking results: 58,000 points in Antutu. A score that makes it clear to us that this is a mid-range. Very nice and muscular, but a mid-range after all (something that is appreciated if we do not have the pocket for too many scares).

Camera and battery

UMIDIGI has nothing to do against Huawei's Leica triple camera, but that does not mean that it fails to deliver a rather interesting set. The Z2 also bets on the 4 cameras: 2 rear 16MP + lenses8MP manufactured by Samsung with aperture f / 2.0, and another 16MP + 8MP double for the selfie area.

For the battery, the manufacturer has chosen a capacity of 3850mAh. A figure that provides autonomy without having too much impact on the final weight of the phone. What's more, has fast charging and USB Type-C.

As for the rest of the features, it has Bluetooth 4.0, unlocking through Face ID, Dual 4G VoLTE and a dual SIM slot (nano + nano).

In short, a device with a very good value for money to which we can put very few drawbacks. For the price it has, the truth is that it is the best that we can currently find in the mid-range. Good RAM, good camera, good battery, and a most attractive design.
