The CUBOT Magic It was released exactly one year ago on the market. Whenever we analyze these types of base-range devices, we usually look at their price. In this case, like other mobiles like the Alcatel 1X, we stayed below the 100 euro barrier. What does CUBOT offer us for this amount?
In today's review we take a look at the CUBOT Magic, a terminal with a 5-inch screen, double rear camera and 3GB of RAM. What’s the deal, bro?
CUBOT Magic in analysis, better than the new terminals with Android Go?
Some manufacturers such as Nokia and Alcatel have started to launch low-income mobiles with the lightest version of Android Go to get the most out of their hardware and keep its cost as low as possible.
But at the moment of truth, from what we have seen, Android Go is not the "lifeline" that many expected precisely. Thus, other mobiles like this CUBOT Magic, which remains the same as always, it looks much better from the start, with its Android 7.0 of a lifetime and a couple of attractive details, to justify the outlay. But let's go by parts ...
Design and display
The CUBOT Magic rides a 5-inch screen with HD resolution (1280 × 720) and a pixel density of 294 ppi. It is not a wonderful screen, but it remains within what is expected for a low-end terminal.
The design, however, is much more interesting, with a curvature that extends to the 8 edges of the terminal. It does not affect the functionality of the phone at all, but at least it makes it look elegant, which is not small.
This Magic has dimensions of 14.50 x 7.10 x 0.93 cm, a really light weight of 120 grams and is available in gray and rose gold.
Power and performance
Digging into the guts of the phone, we find a MTK6737 Quad Core CPU running at 1.3GHz, 3GB of RAM and 16GB internal space expandable to 128GB via SD. All with Android 7.0 at the controls of the ship.
The CUBOT Magic offers an Antutu result of 27565 points, which helps us to get an idea of its performance. It does not reach the level of a mid-range, but if what we are looking for is a smartphone to chat, browse and use a few apps, we will not have a major problem.
Camera and battery
The camera is one of the highlights of this terminal. It has a 13MP + 2MP dual rear camera with bokeh effect and f / 2.4 aperture. For the front, a 5MP lens. There are still not many mobiles with double backs for less than 100 euros, so in this sense: a positive point for the manufacturer.
The battery for its part discovers a 2600mAh battery. It is a shorter figure than usual, but considering that the processor consumes few resources and the screen is on the small side, we do not need much more to finish the day without problems.
This CUBOT Magic has a micro USB port, Dual SIM slot (micro + micro), 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 4.0 audio and supports 2G (GSM 850/900/1800 / 1900MHz), 3G (WCDMA 900 / 2100MHz) networks. ) and 4G (FDD-LTE 800/1800/2100 / 2600MHz).
Price and availability
The CUBOT Magic is available at a price of 93.31 euros, about $ 108, on GearBest. We can also get it on AliExpress for a price that ranges between 91 and 97 euros. If we prefer to go through Amazon, as of July 18, its price is € 93.99.
In short, a smartphone with a good value for money, which can come in handy if what we are looking for is a terminal for someone who does not need to do a lot of pyrotechnics and who does not scratch our pockets too much when checking out.
