Vernee V2 Pro, an all-rounder with 6GB RAM, 6200mAh and Android 8.1

We had several weeks without relevant news in terms of Chinese smartphones. Today the streak is finally broken, as Vernee has just launched its new smartphone on sale, the Vernee V2 Pro. A robust terminal with 6GB of RAM, a powerful battery and the latest version of Google's operating system for mobile devices.

In today's review we analyze the Vernee V2 Pro, a phone that is presented as a kind of hybrid between the Vernee Active and the Vernee X. We started!

Vernee V2 Pro in review, a 6GB RAM tank with Vernee X battery and dual 16MP + 5MP rear camera

The V2 Pro goes biting from here and there. It takes the 6200mAh battery from the Vernee X from last Christmas, and the dual front + rear camera from the Vernee Active. In addition to a rugged design that protects it from water, dust and impacts (IP68). But let's go by parts ...

Design and display

The Vernee V2 Pro has a 5.99-inch infinity screen with 2.5D curvature, Full HD + resolution (2160 x 1080p) and a pixel density of 403 ppi. It has a fingerprint reader on the back and a general look, which, in my opinion, is somewhat more attractive than the company's previous “off-road” phone. It is still a rugged smartphone design, but those red sides give the whole a different touch.

It has dimensions of 16.42 x 7.94 x 1.21 cm and a weight of 259 grams. In short, a consistent smartphone.

Power and performance

Delving into the guts of the device we find premium mid-range hardware. A processor Helio P23 octa-core running at 2.0GHz, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage space expandable up to 128GB via micro SD card.

We also see that Vernee has already decided to make the leap in terms of software, and we can finally see the most recent version of Android in the control room: Android 8.1 Oreo. This is a very positive figure, since Vernee's latest mobile, the Active model, still wore Android 7.0 from last year.

With Android Oreo comes the facial recognition function Face ID, and one more characteristic of sports bracelets: heart rate control.

To give us an idea of its overall performance, the V2 Pro offers a result in Antutu of 58,000 points. That is, a power that ensures fluidity and manageability, but without reaching too high levels of pure and hard demand.

Camera and battery

The manufacturer has wanted to mark distances with respect to its previous rugged model in 2 very specific aspects: the camera and the battery.

This means that in the photographic section we will find 4 cameras. A double in the back of 16MP + 5MP (expandable to 21MP + 5MP by software) with PDAF, Dual LED and f / 2.0 aperture, and another 8MP + 5MP double camera for selfies.

For autonomy, Vernee has opted for a 6200mAh battery with fast charging via USB type C. A battery, in short, more than powerful that ensures at least a couple of days of use without too many complications.

Connectivity

The V2 Pro has a dual navigation system of GPS + GLONASS, NFC connection, Bluetooth 4.2 and OTG. It has a dual SIM slot (nano + nano) and supports the following networks:

  • 2G: GSM B2, 3, 5, 8

    ● 3G: WCDMA B1 / 2/4/5/8, TD-SCDMA: B34 / 39

    ● 4G: FDD-LTE: B1 / 2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/19/20, BC0 / BC1, TDD-LTE: B34 / 38/39/40/41

Price and availability

The Vernee V2 Pro has just been presented in society to a price of $ 249.99, about 214 euros to change, on GearBest. Once the pre-sale phase is finished (from May 28 to June 3), its official price will be $ 299.99, about 257 euros approximately.

In short, we have a very good value for money phone. It is seen that Vernee has done well with his previous rugged smartphone and has wanted to exploit the vein with a new bet by reinforcing the camera, the battery and giving the terminal a somewhat more elegant appearance.

A phone especially suitable for those who "live on the edge" and need a phone resistant to all types of inclement weather. Done deal.
