What's more, Huawei is so convinced of its P8 Lite that it has just relaunched the terminal under the name Huawei P8 Lite 2017, with improved features. Let us remember that Huawei is the third largest telephone manufacturer in the world, after Samsung and Apple, and that it knows this for a while.
You just have to look at online stores to know what the terminal is still very popular with consumers. Without going any further, the Huawei P8 Lite is currently Amazon's most popular Android smartphone.
Huawei P8 Lite and Huawei P8 Lite 2017 review
The P8 Lite, both in its 2015 version and in its most recent 2017 version, assumes the characteristics of a mid-range terminal. With a price that ranges between 140 and 210 euros, depending on the model, it is presented as the economical and efficient alternative from one of the best manufacturers of the moment.
Display and layout
The Huawei P8 Lite has a 5-inch IPS LCD (very similar to AMOLED) with 1280 × 720 HD resolution pixels, and a pixel density of 294 dpi (pixels per inch). In terms of design, it has a unibody finish with metal edges and a metallic plastic body. You did not see an aluminum finish like that of its older brother, the P8, but the sensations to the touch in general lines are very good.
The P8 Lite 2017, meanwhile, features a 5.2 inch IPS LCD screen, but this time with Full HD resolution, a pixel density of 421ppp, and 2.5D curved glass. In addition to incorporating a fingerprint reader on the back.
Power and performance
Regarding the hardware of the device, it has a CPU HiSilicon Kirin 620 8-core that reaches a clock speed of 1.2GHz, with Android Lollipop, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage space for photos, apps and data, expandable via SD slot.
The renewed Huawei P8 Lite 2017 instead, has been pleasantly rejuvenated with a Kirin 655 4-core 2.1GHz, Android 7.0, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal space expandable by card.
Although we are talking about 2 similar terminals, the 2017 version wins the street over the 2015 version, the latter offering an efficient but more moderate performance (and much cheaper too, beware!).
Camera and battery
Huawei has always been characterized by having quite efficient cameras in general lines, and this P8 Lite maintains the type. In the 2015 model we find a 13.0MP rear lens with autofocus, dual LED flash, face detection and video recording in Full HD 1080p quality. All accompanied by a 5.0MP selfie camera.
The Huawei P8 Lite 2017, instead, delivers a 12.0MP rear lens with f / 2.0 aperture, LED flash and Full HD video recording at 30fps. A camera with very good focus and capable of taking photos both in good lighting and in slightly more adverse situations. On the front, we find an 8.0MP camera, also with f / 2.0 aperture.
Finally, the battery is another aspect that has clearly benefited from the rejuvenation of the terminal: 2200mAh for the classic Huawei P8 Lite and a more than competent 3000mAh for the P8 Lite 2017. The 2015 model may seem a bit low on battery power, but considering lower power consumption by the hardware, it ends up being convincingly balanced when it comes to autonomy.
Price and availability
Regarding the price of the device we find a quite important difference. If output the Huawei P8 Lite original It cost about 250, today it can be obtained at a reduced price of more than € 100, around 140 euros on Amazon.
The improved Huawei P8 Lite 2017 on the other hand, and due to its numerous improvements in screen, processor, memory etc., it presents a higher price than around 200 euros on Amazon. It is still a good price for a quality mid-range terminal such as this P8 Lite, elegant and with a more than satisfactory finish.
In short, a fairly versatile base-range mobile phone with an updated version that will delight those looking to get a device from one of the largest and best current mobile phone manufacturers.
