Due to the COVID-19 crisis, many Spanish companies are pitching in, making the isolation of millions of people in their homes a little more bearable. This is the case of Telefónica, which a few days ago announced that Movistar + Lite will be free for everyone, both customers and non-customers of the operator, during the quarantine period.
What exactly does that mean that Movistar + Lite is free due to the coronavirus?
The truth is that the news that has been published in this regard in the last hours is a bit confusing. Many users have downloaded the Movistar + app and have been disappointed to see that the streaming service only allows open viewing of some content -such as the La Resistencia or Leit Motiv interview program-, and for the rest we are still it keeps demanding that we register. What's going on?
This is so because all that content was already broadcast for free before the Movistar announcement. What the operator is really offering with that of "Movistar + Lite free for all" translates into the following:
- If you are already a Movistar + Lite customer, the operator will not charge you for next month's subscription.
- If you are not a Movistar + Lite customer, But you have already consumed the free trial month offered by the platform, it does not matter: you will be able to have free access again until April 30.
- If you are not a Movistar + Lite customer you can have free access until April 30.
In addition to this, the company has reinforced its catalog with extra content that the streaming platform was not offering until now. Thus, in addition to the 8 channels that we can usually see on Movistar + Lite (# 0, #Vamos, Movistar Series, Movistar Seriesmanía, FOX, TNT, Comedy Central and AMC), Eight children's channels are also added: Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, Disney Jr, Disney XD, Nick Jr, Panda and Baby TV.
All this additional content will be available from now on to all Movistar + Lite users until next April 30.
How to register to take advantage of the Movistar + Lite offer
Whichever operator you are, whether or not you have taken advantage of the free trial month beforehand, we can obtain access to Movistar + Lite by performing two simple steps:
- Sign up on the Movistar + Lite website (HERE).

The service is available for iOS, Android, via the web from PC, Samsung and LG smart TVs, televisions with integrated Android TV (Sony, Panasonic, etc.), Amazon Fire TV Stick and Android TV Box (Xiaomi Mi Box, Nvidia Shield and others).
Once we have the application installed, we log in with the username and password that we have just registered, and voila, to enjoy all the series and movies of the operator. As you can see in the next screenshot below, once registered we will receive a message confirming that the free access extends until April 30.
Of course, we must bear in mind that once this period is consumed, they will begin to charge us the fee of 8 euros per month. Therefore, it is important that we remember to unsubscribe in time if we are not interested in continuing to use the service.
