How to send a confidential email by Gmail - The Happy Android

How to send a confidential email in Gmail from the browser

That said, if we want to send one of these confidential emails that cannot be forwarded to other people (or copied or downloaded), protected by a password and also have an expiration date, we must follow the following steps.

  • We open Gmail in the browser of our equipment.
  • Click on "Write”To write a new email.
  • We write the content of the mail and when we have everything ready, click on the icon with the padlock and the clock that appears at the bottom of the window.

  • This button will activate the confidential mode, where we will see a new window where to configure the expiration date (1 day, a week, a month, 3 months or 5 years). We can also request the use of a password, which is sent by SMS to the recipient of the mail. Once the relevant changes have been made, click on "Keep”.

  • Now we will see how after the body of the email a message appears indicating that it is a confidential email that expires on a certain date.
  • To finish, click on "Send”.

For their part, the recipient will receive an email like this one that we see below, where they will have to enter the password that has just arrived via SMS in order to unblock the email.

How to send a confidential email from the Gmail app

If what we want is to send one of these emails from the mobile or tablet, the process is very similar.

  • We open the Gmail app and write a new email.
  • Click on the drop-down menu located in the upper right margin and select "Confidential mode”.
  • Next, we choose the expiration date and activate the password request by SMS if we wish. When we have everything ready, click on "Keep”.
  • Back in the mail editing panel, we will see that now a new message appears indicating the expiration date of the content.
  • Click on the send icon to send the mail.

In short, a new functionality that is easy to use and practical. Perhaps it would be nice if the expiration date could be chosen with a greater level of detail, but, in any case, we are facing a utility that was needed, and it is appreciated that they have finally encouraged to implement it.
