Bluboo is a Chinese manufacturer that has always been known for playing in the lower-mid-range league with some comfort. Terminals without large pyrotechnics, but efficient, and that stand out above all for a super adjusted price. What can we expect from the new Bluboo S1? Will it follow the same path as its predecessors?
Analysis of the Bluboo S1: a package of specifications of the most complete without needing to empty the portfolio
The truth is that we are in 2017, and many of the Chinese phone brands of yesteryear are taking a qualitative leap that allows them to maintain low-profile prices, but significantly improving the specifications of their new models. It is no longer so strange to find smartphones like this Bluboo S1, which they equip 4GB RAM, 64GB of storage as standard, one dual rear camera or a processor of the best of Mediatek at the moment, for prices that are barely around 150 euros.
Design and display
The first thing that strikes the naked eye about this Bluboo S1 is its large screen: without frames and occupying almost the entire front panel (90% to be more exact). Just enough to make room for the central physical button -which also functions as a fingerprint reader- and the selfie camera, which has been moved to the lower left margin.
The device also features a 2.5D arc on both sides, and the screen offers a Full HD resolution 1920 x 1080 pixels, with a size of 5.5 ”. All this protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
Power and performance
When it comes to checking the innards of the Bluboo S1, it is difficult to find any fault: processor MTK6757 (Helio P25)Octa Core at 2.5GHz, 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage expandable up to 256GB by card. In the graphic section we find a Mali T880 GPU, all of this running under Android 7.0.
A terminal that on paper offers excellent performance and with which we will be able to do practically everything without losing fluency. In past seasons we have used to see how this type of terminals always used to lower the level in the processor a little, or were contained with the RAM to not exceed the price.
And the truth is that the effort dedicated to this S1 is very pleasantly surprising, which is presented with all sides well covered. We do not have a Snapdragon (if not the terminal would be closer to 400 euros), but in this case, it is not necessary.
Camera and battery
The Bluboo S1's rear camera has joined the dual lens trend: a 13.0MP camera with flash and autofocus (up to 16.0MP by software) + a second 3.0MP camera to achieve the much desired effect bokeh, very popular nowadays. On the front, yes, we find a little more than a correct 5.0 selfie camera (up to 8.0MP by software).
The battery for its part offers a more than acceptable autonomy, thanks to its capacity to 3500mAh. It is a fairly balanced and deliberate figure, since it is not a small battery, but it does not reach exorbitant sizes, which in the end what they do is affect a considerable increase in the weight of the terminal.
Price and availability
The Bluboo S1 was presented in society and In its pre-sale phase it was at a reduced price of $ 159.99, about 142 euros to change.
Currently its price on GearBest is even lower, being able to take it home for 149.99 $, or what is the same, 125 euros to change.
In short, the Bluboo S1 represents an important qualitative leap for the brand compared to previous models, and a whole declaration of intent. A balanced upper-middle-range smartphone like few others with a truly enviable value for money.
