The Cubot King Kong 3 It is the new iteration in the line of rugged phones from the Asian company. It seems that little by little the manufacturer is pulling towards smartphones with better features, and this King Kong 3 is a good example of this.
In today's review we talk about a smartphone resistant to water, dust and falls, with an almost military design, a large battery, double rear camera and NFC connectivity. We started!
Cubot King Kong 3 in analysis, a mobile with IP68 certification, 6000mAh battery and Helio P23 chip
It is clear that, given the characteristics of the terminal, the King Kong 3 is not a mobile for everyone. It is much heavier than a typical smartphone, but it also offers things that we will not see in other standard phones.
Design and display
The Cubot King Kong 3 rides a 5.5-inch GFF display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, with an HD + resolution of 1440 x 720p and a pixel density of 293ppi.
As it is a ruggedized phone, it has that usual "blunt" design that attracts so much attention. The shell is made of a super resistant polyester capable of withstanding drops up to 1.5m, and temperatures between -30 and 60 degrees.
It is also IP68 certified, which means that it can be submerged one and a half meters in water for up to 30 minutes. Both the buttons, the camera, the fingerprint sensor and the rest of the ports are waterproof.
The terminal has dimensions of 16.25 x 7.83 x 1.33 cm and a weight of 280 grams.
Power and performance
At the hardware level we find a very interesting mid-range component mobile. On the one hand, we have an SoC Helio P23 Octa Core at 2.5GHz, next to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage expandable up to 128GB via SD. All with Android 8.1 as an operating system.
By having Android Oreo, that means that we can use, in addition to the fingerprint, unlocking through facial recognition. Another highlight is that the King Kong 3 also has NFC, something not very common in most mid-range Chinese mobiles.
At the performance level, in short, we have a more than compliant mobile, which delivers a benchmarking result in Antutu of 68,874 points.
Camera and battery
For the photographic section of the Kong 3 Cubot has opted for a double rear lens manufactured by Sony. This results in a camera of 16MP + 2MP with flash and f / 2.2 aperture with bokeh effect. For the front, a single selfie camera of some more than acceptable 13MP. Not that they are the best cameras in the world, but in not very adverse circumstances they can give good results.
The battery is undoubtedly one of the strengths of this phone. The Cubot King Kong 3 mounts a stack of 6,000mAh with fast charge (9V / 2A) via USB type C cable. A long-lasting battery that ensures several hours of autonomy.
Price and availability
The Cubot King Kong 3 is currently in the pre-sale phase, and can be obtained from a price of $ 219.99, about € 191 to change, on GearBest. The pre-sale will be active until October 28, so we understand that from that date its price will be a little higher.
In short, a good quality-price smartphone that will attract the attention of lovers of rugged phones, with a bomb-proof battery and some interesting details such as the NFC connection. It shows that we are facing a much more evolved terminal than the previous super resistant Cubot models.
