How to install Fortnite on Android (official beta APK) - The Happy Android

Epic Games launched just a couple of weeks ago the Android mobile version of Fortnite, the successful Battle Royale that has more than half the world hooked -with the permission of PUBG-. However, more than one would be a tremendous disappointment, since the launch came with a trick under his arm: at first it would only be available for mobile phones of the Samsung Galaxy brand.

Luckily, the exclusivity period is over. Now the game is in an open beta phase, expanding the number of devices on which Fortnite can be installed (Xiaomi, Pixel, Asus and others).

How to install the Fortnite beta on Android, explained step by step

The bad thing is that the thing is not so simple: there is a waiting list. This means that we have to sign up for the beta first, and then we'll see. In addition, the game is being distributed by the developer itself, which implies that it is not is available on Google Play. According to Epic Games, all this in order to prevent Google Play from taking a 30% commission on all purchases made within the game. Wow!

That said, if we want to play Fortnite some good games from our Android mobile, these are the steps we have to follow to achieve it.

1 # Avoid the Google Play Store

The first and most important thing is that we forget about the Google Play Store. Epic Games has already made it clear enough that will only distribute the game through its own website. Therefore, if we see APKs or installation links on social networks (Twitter, Facebook) or sites like Reddit, it is best to skip them. Most likely, in the worst case scenario, we are opening the door to a nice virus or malware.

Any application that we see on Google Play pretending to be the original game, let us have no doubt that it is inevitably also a fake.

2 # Check your mobile phone compatibility

As we mentioned at the beginning, not all Android phones are eligible to enter the Fortnite beta. As the developer explains on its website, these are the officially compatible terminals:

  • Samsung Galaxy: S7 / S7 Edge, S8 / S8 +, S9 / S9 +, Note 8, Note 9, Tab S3, Tab S4
  • Google: Pixel / Pixel XL, Pixel 2 / Pixel 2 XL
  • Asus: ROG Phone, Zenfone 4 Pro, 5Z, V
  • Essential: PH-1
  • Huawei: Honor 10, Honor Play, Mate 10 / Pro, Mate RS, Nova 3, P20 / Pro, V10
  • LG: G5, G6, G7 ThinQ, V20, V30 / V30 +
  • Nokia: 8
  • OnePlus: 5 / 5T, 6
  • Razer: Phone
  • Xiaomi: Blackshark, Mi 5 / 5S / 5S Plus, 6/6 Plus, Mi 8/8 Explorer / 8SE, Mi Mix, Mi Mix 2, Mi Mix 2S, Mi Note 2
  • ZTE: Axon 7 / 7s, Axon M, Nubia / Z17 / Z17s, Nubia Z11

Although they are not compatible at the moment, the company is also working to include the following short-term models on this list:

  • HTC: 10, U Ultra, U11 / U11 +, U12 +
  • Lenovo: Moto Z / Z Droid, Moto Z2 Force
  • Sony: Xperia: XZ / XZs, XZ1, XZ2

In any case, if we don't see our phone on the list, let's not be alarmed. From Epic they tell us that the game can also be compatible if we meet the following specifications:

  • OS: Android 64-bit, 5.0 or higher
  • RAM: 3 GB or higher
  • GPU: Adreno 530 or better, Mali-G71 MP20, Mali-G72 MP12 or better

We can obtain more information about it in the FAQ section of Fortnite for Android, on the Epic Games website.

3 # Join the waiting list

If we have a compatible Samsung mobile we can install Fortnite from the Korean company's app store. For the rest of Android users, the only option we have left is to join the waiting list from the Epic Games website, and wait to receive our invitation.

The game is only available from the Epic Games website.

Here it is important that we complete the registration form correctly, since the system allows you to synchronize progress and purchases that we have previously made on our PS4, Xbox, PC etc.

Therefore, if we have a compatible Epic account (Epic user on PC, PSN account or Xbox Live), let's not forget to register it correctly in the application.

4 # Wait to receive your invitation

This is the part where you have to wait. From Epic they indicate that they are “inviting by groups”, and that we will be “informed via email when the invitation is made”. In the company's words, this is a process that should not take too long, limiting itself to a few days of waiting.

Considering that the version of Fortnite for iOS was in beta for a couple of weeks before being officially released, the case of Android should not be much different. This would mean that, unless some unexpected mishap happens, we could have the official version available for everyone in the month of September.

5 # Download the installer and then the game

Due to this unusual distribution model, the installation process involves installing 2 applications in order to enjoy the game.

  • First we will have to download the "Fortnite Installer". This is the official APK file that installs the game on the device.
  • In order to install it, remember that we will have to have APKs installation enabled (sources of unknown origin) on Android. Normally, this setting is found in the security settings of the mobile.
  • Once the installer is installed - redundancy is worth it - several downloads will be made to the phone. Once completed, we can log in and start playing Fortnite.

Finally, comment that Epic Games is recommending not to remove the Fortnite installer, since it will be in charge of launching all patches and updates that are deployed in the future.
