Cubot Power, the power of 6GB RAM + 128GB and a 6000mAh battery

This last year Cubot has presented some quite interesting mobiles. There we have had the Cubot P20, one of the most affordable clones of the Huawei P20 Pro, or the Cubot King Kong 3, a rugged mobile with a powerful 6,000mAh battery. Today we talk about Cubot power, a mid-range that maintains the great battery of the Kong 3 and the excellent screen of the Cubot P20.

However, that is not what most attracts the attention of this pompous terminal, and it is that we are faced with a device that comes with well-charged batteries at home: 6GB of RAM and enough internal storage space to forget about buying. one SD until the end of time.

Cubot Power in review, a powerful and surprisingly well balanced terminal

Balance. That's the key word. Normally, when you see a smartphone with 6GB of RAM in these price ranges, there are always big cuts in other respects.

In that sense, the Cubot Power surprises for the better, since keep the type in the rest of the sections. It also has its shortcomings, such as a slightly high weight, but in general, the feeling it gives off is a good value for money.

Design and display

The Cubot Power forgets the ubiquitous notch to present a 5.99-inch screen with Full HD + resolution (2160 x 1080p), with an 18: 9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 402ppi.

A device "all screen" with a design and a housing that do not stand out especially, given the current panorama, but that is not bad either: curved edges + rear with a crystallized "fingerprint" effect that manages to give an attractive visual appearance to the terminal.

In addition, it has dimensions of 15.84 x 7.44 x 1.08 cm, has a weight of 216 grams and is available in black and blue.

Power and performance

When it comes to hardware, the Cubot Power lives up to its name: one of the best of today's Asian mid-range. On the one hand, we have one of the best Mediatek processors, the Helio P23 Octa Core running at 2.5GHz. To accompany the processor, the manufacturer has thrown the house out the window, adding 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage space.

It is not that we are going to need it, but the terminal also has a slot for a micro SD card to increase the storage capacity of the phone up to an additional 128GB.

A fairly intelligent move by the manufacturer, since memory is one of the cheapest components in a mobile, and it is a fairly effective claim in order to sell the product.

The built-in system it's Android 8.1, and at the performance level, to give us an idea, this Cubot Power gets some more than interesting 75,000 points in Antutu. For practical purposes, this translates into a fluid smartphone that also has plenty of space to download movies, photos, videos, music and anything else that comes our way.

Camera and battery

With such memory and screen quality one could hope - almost forgive - that the camera was a bit below expectations. And the truth is that, without having a spectacular selfie camera (8MP, or 13MP through Sw), it complies with a note in the main camera: 16MP (20MP via software) resolution with f / 2.0 aperture. A lens manufactured by Samsung that offers superior sharpness and contrast thanks to its 6 focal points.

The battery for its part, is another of the highlights of the Cubot Power. A powerful 6,000mAh battery with fast charging via USB Type-C that offers a range well above the average (46 hours in calls, 50 hours of music and 15 hours of video).

Personally, I would rather they had left a few milliamps along the way and he had a lighter terminal. But the big batteries are what they have: they add to the weight of the device that is delightful. Some will find it better and others worse, but the name of the phone already says it. Didn't you want power? Well there it is. For both the good and the bad.

Other functionalities

This Cubot Power has a dual SIM (nano) slot, supports 4G FDD-LTE networks, has Bluetooth, dual band WiFi and a 3.5mm headphone slot.

Price and availability

The Cubot Power is currently on sale and is priced at 189.99 $, about 168 euros to change, on GearBest. Its usual price in the store is usually around 250 euros, which makes its value for money at the moment quite high. It's also available on Amazon with 1-day shipping for Prime users.

In short, we are facing a mid-range that tries to exploit in all sections more or less successfully, taking power as a flag. It does not treasure certain extras such as the infrared sensor or NFC payments, but in general it is a terminal that offers a considerable level of power in a more than dignified way.
