I am a regular podcast listener, basically since I began to listen to the Rose of the Winds in the time of Juan Antonio Cebrián (the good one), to liven up the long train trips to the faculty more than 15 years ago. At first I used to download the programs in MP3 format, but when I discovered the iVoox application for Android all that changed and I began to listen to this and many other podcasts directly in streaming.
iVoox has worked wonders for me during all this time, but for about a year I have started to suffer certain technical problems such as, for example, that the audio plays "in slow motion" or that it cuts out due to some unexpected error without a clear justification. Does it happen to you too? With that said, I have recently discovered a rather interesting alternative called Google Podcasts, and although it does not have as much material available for the Spanish-speaking public - there iVoox has a clear advantage over it - the truth is that it also has its charm.

Google Podcasts, everything you need in a podcasting app
The great advantage of Google Podcast over other similar apps is its interface. All the elements are perfectly arranged, and navigation and interaction with the platform It is done in a much more natural and less overloaded way than in other similar apps.
The application is divided into 3 very well differentiated blocks that we can access from the lower menu:
- Favorites: From here we will see all the new podcasts that are published on the channels to which we are subscribed.
- To explore: In this section we will find the entire catalog available on the platform. It is divided into categories that we can easily navigate by sliding our finger to the right or left.
- Exercise: This is the section that records our listening, downloading, play queue and subscription history.
Regarding the themes, we find very varied content, from comedy or news, going through podcasts of culture, sport, art, business, science, film and television, studies, health and fitness, history, technology, music, family and Personal development. A total of up to 15 different categories.
If we go a little deeper into the content itself, we see that there are all the classic podcasts that we could expect, such as the radio programs of Onda Cero (More than one, La Rosa de los Vientos) or La SER (Modern Life). , Ortega's nights), and a huge number of podcasts in Spanish such as the Bear Hug, Coffee Break or the legendary TED talks. We may not find the odd podcast a little more minority or alternative –there are, and many-, but in general the offer is wide and varied like few others.
Recently Google has updated the Google Podcast app with a renewed interface, and some other surprises such as the dark mode (something that for now we cannot find in iVoox). It also has timers, support for Chromecast, speed modifier and the possibility of downloading the audios to be able to listen to them when we are without coverage or without a nearby Wi-Fi.
