Samsung Galaxy M20 in analysis, a mid-range with infinite battery

The new Galaxy M line It is Samsung's bet to compete against brands like Xiaomi in the mid-range. It's clear that the company is more than settled in the high-end, but it also wants its share of the pie in the more affordable ranges, where Chinese brands dominate with an iron fist. The Samsung Galaxy M20 It was presented just a couple of months ago, and the truth is that it doesn't look bad at all.

The South Korean giant also has the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M30 models in its arsenal, but for now the M20 is the only one that has made the leap to the international market. Let's see what it offers.

Samsung Galaxy M20 in analysis, a modern terminal with an infinite screen, good autonomy and an excellent value for money

In today's review we take a look at the Samsung Galaxy M20, a premium mid-range with a Full HD screen, an Exynos 7904 processor and a powerful 5,000mAh battery.

Design and display

It is clear that a mobile first enters through the eyes, and therefore it is important that it has a good design. The Galaxy M20 has everything we can ask for from a 200 euro mobile: it sports a rather sweet premium finish, chassis with curved edges, the screen occupies most of the front and it also sports a beautiful “water drop” notch.

As for the details of the screen, it presents a 6.3 inch size -Almost without frames- with a Full HD + resolution (2340 x 1080p) and a pixel density of 409ppi. Without a doubt a screen with a lot of potential.

It has dimensions of 74.5mm x 156.3mm x 8.8mm, a weight of 186 grams and is available in black and blue.

Power and performance

At the performance level, we find the most solvent hardware. On the one hand, we have a chip Exynos 7904 of own manufacture with 8-core 1.8GHz processor, accompanied by a Mali-G71 MP2 GPU, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage expandable via SD slot. All this under the umbrella of Android 8.1 Oreo, with facial recognition function and fingerprint detector on the back.

In short, a consistent hardware for the mid-range, with which to interact smoothly and without performance problems in 99% of the apps on the Play Store. To give us an idea, the Samsung Galaxy M20 has a benchmarking result in Antutu of 109,452 points.

In this sense it is slightly inferior to the Xiaomi Mi A2 and the Redmi Note 7, to put a couple of examples of its more direct competitor. Although then in practice they all offer practically identical performance, it is a significant enough difference (at the level of pure and simple computing) to be mentioned.

Camera and battery

For the photographic section Samsung has opted for a double rear camera with a 13MP main lens with f / 1.9 aperture and one 5MP 120 ° ultra-wide secondary camera with aperture f / 2.2. The selfie area, meanwhile, saves the ballot with an 8MP camera, f / 2.0 aperture and Live Focus function. Not that they are the best cameras in the world, but they do offer very good results in low light environments, compared to other similarly priced mobiles.

We come to the most powerful point of this Samsung Galaxy M20: its battery. A 5,000mAh battery with fast charging via USB Type-C (15W) that offers truly outstanding charging times. Up to 28 hours of video on a full charge and 11 hours of music on a 10-minute charge.

Other functionalities

The Galaxy M20 has a dual SIM slot (nano + nano), Bluetooth 5.0, dual band WiFi, NFC connection, headphone slot, FM radio, USB OTG and Dolbi ATMOS 360 ° sound.

Price and availability

As of this writing, the Samsung Galaxy M20 It has a price of about 229.00 euros on Amazon. All this in its 4GB + 64GB version (there are also lighter versions with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage).

In general, we are facing a terminal that, without being outstanding, offers a remarkable quality-price ratio. In the end we always pay a little more for the brand, and here what we find is a good phone that stands out above all for its large battery and a fairly light weight (taking into account that this is one of the heaviest components of a terminal ).

If it did not have the Samsung label it would surely be worth 20 euros less, but taking into account what it offers we cannot say that it is a bad deal. Recommended for fans of the firm and those looking for a phone with a guarantee of quality and support.
