Bluboo S3 in analysis, mobile with 8500mAh battery and Full HD + screen

It's not even a year since the Bluboo S1 was released, and we already have version 3.0 of this affordable mid-range smartphone. The Bluboo S3 repeats some essential aspects of the previous version, such as, for example, a more than decent screen. The S3 however adds a differentiating feature: a bulletproof battery.

In today's review we take a look at the Bluboo S3, a phone with an infinite screen, dual rear cameras and a brutal 8500mAh battery.

Bluboo S3 in review, more screen, more battery and a 21MP dual camera

The Bluboo S1 was quite successful. It appeared just as frameless displays were starting to catch on. At that time, there weren't many phones that offered this feature for under $ 200. As a result, the Bluboo S1 gained considerable notoriety. At least for a while.

The new Bluboo S3 is going to have it quite complicated if it wants to match the success of its predecessor. This time, the weapon that Bluboo uses to attract attention is a very large battery, something that unfortunately increases the weight of the terminal significantly.

Design and display

Going into detail, the Bluboo S3 has a screen with resolution Full HD + (2160x1080p). All this protected by a 2.5D curved glass with Gorilla Glass 4 and a pixel density of 402 ppi. For this new model, it has been decided to remove the physical button from the front panel, thus leaving more space for the screen, and reaching the not inconsiderable figure of 6 inches non-stop. In short, a quality screen.

The terminal has a rather original and elegant rough metal casing, and has dimensions of 15.70 x 7.50 x 4.50 cm. The only big downside is its weight, which in this case it shoots us up to 280 grams.

Power and performance

At the hardware level we are facing the typical mid-range smartphone. A consumer efficient processor like the MT6750T Octa Core, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage with Android 7.0 make up the hard core of this phone.

A winning combination that has found its way into most mid-range smartphones in recent times. It is not an excessively powerful terminal, but it offers fluidity and a more than acceptable performance (41,500 points in Antutu), with enough storage space to save photos and install apps without too many regrets.

Regarding connectivity, it has NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, Dual SIM (nano + nano) and supports 2G networks: GSM B2 / B3 / B5 / B8, 3G: WCDMA B1 / B5 / B8, 4G: FDD-LTE B1 / B3 / B7 / B8 / B20 and TDD-LTE B38 / B39 / B40 / B41.

Its features also include screen unlocking through facial recognition (Face ID).

Camera and battery

The Bluboo S3 camera continues with the tradition and repeats double camera on the rear. In this case we find two lenses of 21MP + 5MP with f / 2.0 aperture made by Samsung. A noticeable advance over the 13MP + 3MP of the previous Bluboo S1. The selfie camera has also been subject to improvement, now delivering a higher quality 13MP camera.

Autonomy is probably the most remarkable aspect of the S3. The device equips a huge 8500mAh battery with fast charging via USB Type-C. A battery that in theory allows 20 hours of uninterrupted video playback, 6 days of moderate use and up to 42 days of standby.

Price and availability

The Bluboo S3 has just been presented in society, and it is already available on GearBest at a price of $ 189.99, about 158 euros to change. A reduced price that will be maintained throughout the pre-sale phase of the terminal (from April 30 to May 17).

In short, a terminal with great autonomy, a good screen, and that also has an optimized high-resolution rear camera. The only downside is that having such a large battery this affects the weight, delivering a device that is noticeable in your pocket.

UPDATED:The Bluboo S3 is currently discontinued on GearBest. However, we can still find it on Amazon.com (HERE) at a price of around 190 euros.
