The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Prime It is the improved version of the Redmi Note 5A. This means that we are facing a low-end mobile, but with a few enhanced peculiarities that make it stand out above other competing mobiles.
In today's review we analyze the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Prime, an affordable 5.5-inch terminal, with 3GB of RAM and a remarkable 16MP front camera.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Prime in analysis, I wish all the low-end were like this mobile
Without a doubt, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Prime has its shortcomings, but the general set makes this smartphone a more than ideal device for all those people who are looking for a cheap and functional mobile that more than meets all your needs.
We are not looking for a € 500 mobile, but we want an Android phone that is up to scratch. That's where the Redmi Note 5A Prime comes into play.
Design and display
Xiaomi's new powered low-end features an IPS screen of 5.5 inches with HD resolution (1280x720p). The screen is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and offers a pixel density of 267ppi and a brightness of 450nits.
In terms of design, we are faced with a mobile with rounded edges, with a minimalist and elegant style, mounted on a plastic casing. Although it offers a metal feel, in this case we do not have an aluminum body, something that on the other hand helps to considerably reduce its weight.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Prime is available in gray, gold and rose gold, has dimensions of 7.62 x 15.30 x 0.77cm and a weight of 153gr. Without a doubt, one of the lightest phones of the moment.
It also has a fingerprint detector and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Power and performance
When it comes to hardware, we dive right into the more accessible range. On the one hand, we have a processor Snapdragon 435 Octa Core 1.4GHz and GPU Adreno 505. That is, a moderate performance processor.
On the contrary, it also equips 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage space expandable next to Android 7.1 (MIUI 9). Something that substantially elevates the experience, delivering a set that works comfortably with any application, as long as we do not try to run AAA games or apps that are too heavy.
To get a better idea of its performance, we see that its score in a benchmarking tool such as Antutu is a remarkable 45,798 points.
Camera and battery
We come to one of the strengths of this Redmi Note 5A Prime, its camera. At the rear we find a remarkable 13MP lens with f / 2.2 aperture and dual LED flash, HDR, panorama and burst mode. The front camera on the other hand is much better, with an OmniVision PureCel lens that reaches up to 16MP resolution. If we are lovers of selfies, here we have a whole vein to dip into.
The battery, on the other hand, stays in a correct 3080mAh with micro USB charging. Taking into account that its screen is not excessively large and that its processor does not consume many resources, it is a battery that can last us many hours before it begins to show signs of exhaustion (up to 10 hours of video and 12 hours of play depending on the maker).
Price and availability
The Redmi Note 5A Prime as of March 15, 2018 is priced at 132.50 euros at Amazon (Spanish version). We can also get it on GearBest for a reduced price of € 107.78, about $ 129.99 to change. It is clear that the price is one of the great attractions of this terminal.
