How to clear the Android cache in 2 steps and without installing any app

In today's post we are going to take a look at how to clear the cache of an Android terminal, fast and without complicating our lives too much. There are apps like Clean Master or CCleaner that perform this type of cleaning. They are very practical applications, but basically unnecessary, since, after all, clearing the cache is a task that we can do ourselves by hand, and in less than a minute.

What is the Android cache?

When we install an app on Android, it has a certain size. But over time, and as we use the application, it is downloading and generating new data and temporary files, increasing the space that the app occupies in the internal memory of the device.

These temporary or residual files are the Android cache, and they serve to make apps load faster, avoiding having to download that data again every time we launch an app.

Over time, the storage space that the cache occupies becomes very significant. Sometimes it can even be the cause of an app not working as well as it should. Because, it is advisable to clean and clear the cache every so often.

Difference between app data and app cache

It is important to differentiate between app data and the data in an app's cache (also called "cache"):

  • If we clear the cache, we will be cleaning only temporary files of the application.
  • If we delete the data, we will leave the app "in factory state". All user data, configuration and additional downloads are lost.

How to delete all cached data on Android

In Android it is very easy to clear the cache. Just go to the menu "Settings -> Storage”And click on“Cached data”.

A message will appear asking if we want to "delete cached data". We press "To accept”.

This will erase the residual and temporary cached data of all the apps on our device.

How to clear the cache in apps individually

If we prefer to perform the cleaning in a more staggered way, we can also clear the cache of each app individually. We are going to "Settings -> Applications”And we select the app we want to clear the cache for. Click on "Storage"And we mark"Clear cache”.

How often is it advisable to clear the cache?

As you can see, it is a really simple process with which we can save the installation of other applications such as Clean Master, and maintain a little order and cleanliness in our terminal in little more than a couple of clicks.

Upon the best time to perform a cache clean, it will always depend on the behavior of the phone or tablet. If we see that we are running out of free space or if an app starts doing strange things, it can be a great time to do a good cache clearing. If we don't have a problem, taking a look every 3-6 months should be more than enough.
