A couple of years ago Xiaomi surprised locals and strangers with a new mobile phone brand, POCO phones. With the POCOPHONE F1 The Asian manufacturer managed to get everyone's attention in 2018, and this year it intends to do the same with the LITTLE F2, a new flagship killer with leading components and a very interesting set of specifications.
One of the main attractions of this POCO F2 Pro is its price, and we are talking about a high-end smartphone that ranges between 465 and 500 euros. A juicy price where there is not much competition beyond terminals such as the One Plus 7T, the Realme X50 Pro or the Huawei P30 Pro that came out last year (and that has now dropped in price).
POCO F2 Pro, a new generation terminal with 5G connectivity and Snapdragon 865 processor
Below we review the most outstanding features of the POCO F2 Pro, a device that already reveals certain differences with respect to the previous generation mobiles, such as LPDDR5 memories or a chip compatible with 5G and Wifi 6 networks that little by little they will begin to be more and more common.
Design and display
The POCO F2 Pro rides a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen, with Full HD + resolution (2400 x 1080p) and a retractable camera that offers a screen-to-body ratio of 92.7%. We are facing a panel with a pixel density of 395ppi, HDR10 + and a maximum brightness of 1200 nits.
The only negative aspect, in quotes, is the refresh rate of the screen, which is 60Hz instead of the 90Hz that we can see in other high-end mobiles of this type. Be careful, we are looking at a high quality screen, but if we have previously had a 90Hz mobile, we will undoubtedly notice that the images and transitions are not so fluid in comparison (although if we have never had one of these screens we will not notice any change, obviously we are before an AMOLED FHD + panel so the quality is assured).
At the design level, we are faced with a terminal with premium finishes (aluminum and glass housing), with a fingerprint reader integrated into the screen and a very attractive general appearance, especially when we remove the camera from its "upper pocket". Now, we are facing a smartphone that with its almost 220 grams we could classify as "heavy", the kind that are noticeable when we carry it in our pocket. Its dimensions are 75.4 x 163.3 x 8.9mm, and it is available in gray, blue, purple and white.
Power and performance
If we go into the guts of Xiaomi's POCOPHONE F2 Pro we see quite a few very interesting aspects. On the one hand, we have an SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Octa Core running at 2.84GHz, with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of internal storage (UFS 3.1, no SD slot). The operating system is Android 10 with MIUI for POCO layer.
Note: There is also a lighter version with 6GB of LPDDR4X and 128GB RAM.
With these components, the device is capable of delivering top performance, allowing you to play games with a high graphic load without any problem (there the new Qualcomm chip has a lot to do with it). Something that also helps a lot in this regard is the LiquidCool Technology 2.0 cooling system, with steam chambers that reduce the temperature of the CPU by 14 ° C.
To give us an idea of the power of the POCO F2 Pro, it gives a result of 568,000 points in the Antutu benchmarking test. There are not many terminals that reach these figures, at least as far as gross power is concerned.
Camera
The camera is undoubtedly another of the most striking details of Xiaomi's new POCO. On the one hand we have a retractable front camera (20MP, 0.80µm), which is deployed from the upper side of the device when we are going to take a photo. Quite a differentiating aspect with respect to the rest of the competitors in the market, where the notch and the holes on the screen to place the selfie camera is the norm.
In the back area we find the main camera, a quad rear camera with a 64MP main sensor, aperture f / 1.89 and a pixel size of 0.80µm. All this accompanied by a wide-angle lens for panoramic photos, a portrait mode lens for greater depth and a macro lens to capture all the details in close-up photos. It also includes a night mode that helps a lot to improve captures in low light environments, and although we are not facing the best camera on the market (for that we would have to look at the Google Pixels and iPhone), it is undoubtedly a great camera. quality that can be greatly benefited if we manage to install the Google camera app, GCam.
Battery
At the level of autonomy, the POCO F2 Pro leaves the lists, with a battery of 4700mAh with charging via USB C It can easily last us a couple of days between loading and loading. This is another of the most notable aspects of the device, and the fact that it has such a high weight is mainly due to the large battery it mounts. It does not have wireless charging, but its long duration is something that is appreciated in a smartphone that is expressly designed for long gaming sessions.
Other features
As for the rest of the functionalities, the POCO F2 Pro also offers a mini-jack input for headphones, slow motion video recording (120fps), Dual SIM, MiMO WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, infrared sensor to control TV, NFC and FM radio. .
Price and availability
Currently we can get a POCO F2 Pro for an approximate price of € 503.28 on sites like GearBest. Also mention that today the terminal is on sale and can be obtained at a reduced price of € 465.07 (the 6GB + 128GB model).
In short, a flasgship killer that although it has its shortcomings in some aspects, it has a remarkable quality-price ratio, being the cheapest mobile with Snapdragon 865 at the moment. Worth? If you are looking for a premium experience at an affordable price (we cannot say that it is cheap either, since obviously we are at the top of the range) you should definitely take a good look at it.
