Octopath Traveler

One of the most pleasant surprises of the year, and a perfect Christmas gift for lovers of the JRPG genre. It has retro 16-bit graphics that recall the most glorious times of the Super Nintendo, when the Chrono Trigger and the Secret of Mana beat it in half the world.

We are facing an RPG with turn-based combat, with 8 characters to choose from each with their corresponding stories that apply several layers of depth to the game. An immersive and artistically prodigious title.

Dead Cells belongs to the RogueVania genre, a MetroidVania (platform action) that works under Roguelike dynamics (randomly generated dungeon exploration). All this with 2D combat in the Dark Souls style.

Each game is different, since when we die, we gain experience and we can unlock new improvements and skills. It is a game that in many ways is reminiscent of the Rogue Legacy, but with better graphics and greater depth. One of the best for Nintendo Switch in 2018.

Leaving aside the unfortunate Sonic Forces from last year, Sega makes a clean slate with Sonic Mania Plus, the definitive version of the 2017 Sonic Mania. A title that takes the best of the classic Sonic from the Mega Drive and Sega CD with the inclusion of new mechanics and scenarios.

It has 12 frenetic levels, each with 2 phases and a corresponding final boss. A platform game like the old ones, with a very well managed difficulty curve calculated to the millimeter. The best way to fall in love again with our once beloved blue hedgehog.

Almost all of these titles have come out in physical format, but there have also been big digital releases worth mentioning, in addition to Mega Man 11. Games like Light blue, INSIDE or Hollow knight They have put the mark of quality in a catalog that already has more than 1,400 games.
