TP-LINK TL-WN725N Network Adapter Review

The nano USB wireless network adapter TP-LINK TL-WN725N, it is a very neat gadget. Is about a tiny USB device that once connected to your computer, allows it to connect to a WiFi network at a speed of 150 Mbps.

TP-LINK TL-WN725N functionality

The TP-LINK TL-WN725N network adapter allows you to connect to wireless networks of the 802.11B, 802.11G and 802.11n, which means that you can connect to most existing wireless networks. And it also has a quite remarkable range, being able to establish a connection even being more than 10 meters from the router. In my case, I tried connecting it to a laptop in the living room, and even having the router in another room quite far away, browsing and downloads did not suffer at all.

The TP-LINK nano network adapter stands out for its elegance and size

The most striking, and perhaps the main reason to get this USB network adapter is precisely its size. At no time will we feel that we are adding yet another complement to our computer. It is really tiny, and being so inconspicuous we can leave it connected to the laptop and forget about it.

Installation and drivers of the TP-LINK TL-WN725N

The only downside to TP-LINK's TL-WN725N would be the installation process and the drivers.. As of Windows 8 the system recognizes the device without the need to install additional drivers, but for earlier versions such as Windows 7 or XP an installation package is required.

The device comes with the drivers on a CD, but if you are unlucky not to have a disk drive on your computer, the installation can be a problem. In principle you can download the drivers too from the TP-LINK website , but in my case I could not install them correctly and I had to make an image of the installation disk that came with the device and install the drivers from a pendrive.

It seems that there are 2 versions of this same product, and if you are lucky enough to buy the V2 version of the TP-LINK TL-WN725N you will have some difficulty installing it in old operating systems or in some other device such as raspberrys. Be careful, it does not mean that it does not work. It works perfectly, but it takes a little more work.

Final assessment of the TL-WN725N

In short, if your laptop's network adapter is faulty (or if you want to provide WiFi connectivity to your desktop computer) and you need a practical, efficient and elegant solution, the TP-LINK nano USB network adapter is a highly recommended option. It also has an almost ridiculous price for everything it offers, which makes it an option to consider.
