Elephone S7 in review: a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge at a mid-range price - The Happy Android

There is a Chinese saying that says “The greatest compliment that can be paid to a competitor is to copy their success”, and it seems that Elephone has taken good note of this. The renowned Asian company has just presented its new and powerful terminal, the Elephone S7, in a clear allusion to the model Galaxy S7 Edge. A titan that promises to destroy this Christmas with characteristics that more than one would like for themselves. In today's review we are going to review the Elephone S7, a smartphone with an impeccable design and features that make it already one of the favorites of the mid-range.

Design and display

In the design, the inspiration is clear: we are facing a clone of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. It sports a worked unibody body with a metallic finish and curved design, rounded edges and a button at the bottom of the screen (offtopic: Why the current mania of removing physical buttons from terminals?). As for the color of the terminal, the guys at Elephone have decided to take a risk, and in addition to presenting color models black and gold, propose 2 new shades for the S7: blue and emerald green.

As for the screen, the company offers 2 alternatives: one with a screen 5.5 inch, and another a little smaller with a size of 5.2 inches (the so-called Elephone S7 mini). Both with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080).

Power and performance

Elephone is committed to versatility and freedom of choice for the user, and offers various variants of its S7 model, where we can choose how much RAM and storage space we want you to have our device. The available variants are as follows:

  • 2GB RAM memory + 16 GB expandable internal storage.
  • 3GB RAM memory + 32GB expandable internal storage.
  • 4GB RAM memory + 64GB expandable internal storage.

Regardless of RAM and internal space, all Elephone S7 models have Android 6.0 and one of the most powerful processors of the moment, a Helio X20 10-core running at a frequency of 2.0GHz. A marvel that will allow us to move heavy graphics and play AAA games fluently. If we also accompany it with a good RAM, we can find ourselves calmly before one of the most powerful mid-range smartphones of the season.

Camera and battery

The Elephone S7's camera is within expectations for a mid-range terminal. There are no surprises, although that doesn't mean it's a bad thing. 13MP resolution for the rear camera, with flash and autofocus, and a 5.0MP selfie camera. An efficient camera that will take good photos as long as the conditions are not too adverse.

In the energy section we find a 3000mAh lithium battery. It's not the most powerful we've seen this year, but it matches the power of Samsung's Galaxy S7 Edge, and promises to deliver above-average durability.

Also has 4G connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, Dual SIM Standby and front fingerprint sensor.

Price and availability

The Elephone S7 not yet officially released, but is already in the pre-sale phase (Shipments begin to be made from November 23).

Taking into account that Elephone has wanted to give the user total freedom, and that its S7 has different variants of the terminal, we can find different prices for sale to the public:

  • From the most economical model, the Elephone S7 mini(2GB RAM + 32GB) At a price of 149.99$ , about 134 euros to change.
  • Even the most powerful model, the Elephone S7 (4GB RAM + 64GB) with a price between $ 209.99 and $ 249.99 (depending on the color of the terminal), about 188–224 euros.

As I mentioned at the beginning, there are several possible combinations of RAM, storage space and color of the terminal that determine the final price of the phone. If you are interested or just want to know more about the S7, I recommend that you take a look at the pre-sale offers of the terminal where you can see all the alternative prices and specifications. A great terminal that promises not to leave anyone indifferent.
