Last year my cell phone was stolen. What was done was done, and it was not much use to regret it either, so the best thing was to turn the page. Anyway, what did bother me a lot was the fact that I lost the contacts from the phonebook. That really annoyed me. Has it ever happened to you? Silly me that I did not configure any backup in its day (Well deserved you got it android!) … Oh! How painful! Don't be a fool like me and take advantage of the following post to make sure you are clear how to backup your contacts, and thus avoid losing the numbers of your precious agenda in case of theft or loss. Listen to me!
How to backup your contacts on Android
In Android there are 2 very simple ways to make a backup or backup copy of the contacts in our agenda. On the one hand, we can configure an automatic copy through Gmail or if we prefer we can make the copy "bareback", by hand.
Configure backup from Gmail
I would dare to say that the vast majority of Android users have a Gmail account set up on their phone. It is not mandatory to configure it, but if you don't you cannot download and install apps from the Play Store. So the vast majority of users use at least one Gmail account on their device. Did you know that just by having a Google account you can now make an automatic copy of your contacts?
Go to "Settings → Accounts"And select your Gmail account, then choose the data we want to synchronize (make sure to mark the contacts), and finally go to"Settings → Backup and restore."And leave marked"Make backup" and "Automatic restore”.
If you lose your phone or it is stolen, you will only have to reconfigure the same Gmail account that you used to get your contacts back on the new phone.
Export contacts to an external file
You can also opt for the artisan option and make the backup of the agenda yourself. To do this you just have to go to "Contacts:"And display the options menu to select"Import Export”.
Easy right? Now you just have to choose where you want to export the file that will contain all the contacts in the phonebook. In the case of the example of the image I have selected "Export to SD card”, And then take the file with the copy and save it in a safe place (for example, a pendrive or upload it to Google Drive or Dropbox).
The copy of the contacts will be saved in a file with the name “Contacts.vcf", And if you chose to save it in the SD you will find it in the path"/ storage / extSdCard / "
How to backup your contacts on iOS
If you have an iPhone and you want to make a backup or backup of your contacts, you have 2 very simple methods at your disposal.
Backup contacts with iTunes
With iTunes you can make a backup of the contacts of your iPhone, as well as other relevant information of your mobile device. To do this, connect your phone to your PC or Mac and open iTunes on your desktop computer. Select your iPhone and in the "Summary"Click on"Copy now”.
Now the backup process will begin and a backup of both your contacts and all the information stored on the iPhone will be made.
Backup your contacts with iCloud
If it seems dangerous to save the backup on your PC, you can always use iCloud to make a copy in the cloud.
Go to the settings on the iPhone and select “iCloud”. Remember that if you are not logged in you will have to enter your Apple ID and password to continue.
To finish you just have to go to the option "Contacts:”And enable it to automatically back up your contacts to iCloud.
In addition to the methods that we have just mentioned, you will also be able to find a lot of apps for both Android and iOS that make backup copies of the information stored on your device, but if you only want to make a copy of your contacts, my recommendation is that you avoid installing additional apps (I'm sure you already have a whole jungle of apps installed, am I right?). In the long run, your phone's memory and CPU will thank you.
